The goal was to design and develop a visually stunning website to showcase a new line of televisions for LG. The challenge was to display these incredibly thin televisions and their myriad features in a rich site experience, complete with demonstrations to show off the innovative technology of Infinia.

Aflac is one of the biggest insurance companies in the USA.
With a direct client relationship for this project, Aflac is one of the bigger wins Firstborn has made and I had the privilege of being part of the development team for the official site.
Its a huge project with tons of content going into this hybrid (html with mixed flash elements) site.
Users are introduced to the world of Aflac in an entertaining and educational so that they understand exactly why they need Aflac.
Working together with Zeh Fernando, I developed six of these modules (in the site called 'Aflacts'), which can be found under the various tabs clicking the experience the facts buttons.

Turner Broadcasting is a Time Warner company creating news and entertainment media on tv and other platforms around the world. They approached Firstborn with the opportunity to create an internal online-marketing tool to showcase the wide-ranged portfolio of media buy that Turner has to offer.
Customized for the specific user-case, we've developed an recommendation engine to help sales-staff narrow down and find suitable properties for the client in the easiest and fastes way possible. By choosing from a wide range of filters, including demographics, psychographics, brand values etc. the engine is automatically sorting out and finding appropriate property matches.
All content is database driven, via Fluorine FX.
Art direcition by Aaron Pollick. Motion graphics in recommendaion engine was created by Andrew Jerez, Felix Hill, Tim Jockel and Brett Swansson.
Project management by Avery Holden.

Jag Minns Den Dag Som Kommer (I Remember Tomorrow) is a digital children's story about always wanting the things you don't have. It's divided into six different stories about six people, all wanting to be someone else. By using different feeds and sets of data from FlickR, YouTube, Wikipedia, etc. the environment in the story is constantly changing, making the experience unique every time.
This was my, Wiktor Persson, Gustav Schiring & Eirik Eiriksen's Final Project. Done just before graduating from Hyper Island in June 2008.
My responsibilities included building the flash architecture and interface, as well as the entire backend part - creating a parser engine (using Google Blog Search to find relevant content) for use in the experience via CRON jobs, researching capabilities and building prototypes.

The objective for this project was straight to the point; Sheraton wanted as much user-interactivity as possible. Firstborn created an experience that showcases eight different vignettes, each representing a new feature at the Sheraton hotels.
Working closely with Francis Turmel, I developed five of these vignettes (fitness, exclusive retreat, meet, sneak peak & explore) as well as five of the rollover effects.
Unfortunately, this campaign was never publically launched.

Wunderman Team Detroit approached Firstborn with the opportunity to create the new Ford Fusion 2010 web presence, in the spirit of the "They speak. We speak. You speak." campaign.
For the second phase of this project, I was brought onto the team and developed the BLIS, Sync and Smart Gauge widgets in the "Us vs. Them" section of the site. Other parts of the site were developed by Gicheol Lee, who led this project.
The BLIS widget is a small game to showcase how much easier it is to change lanes on a highway for example with the help of Fusions' Blind Spot Information System. Users are challenged to switch lanes as many times as possible under a time limit of one minute.

Together with Tribal DDB, Firstborn created the virtual neighbourhood of Sunnyville for Lowe's spring campaign. In this extensive experience, users get valuable product information from the other neighbours, can play their games or browse a full product catalog with wishlist to save favourite items.
In the development team of 4, I developed the product catalog and wishlist as well as global gui elements used throughout the experience.

Microsite for Citibank's "Win the story of a lifetime" promotion, done at Firstborn in collaboration with Atmosphere BBDO. By using a Citibank card, customers were automatically entering a draw for two grand prizes; travel with Nickelback on a three-city tour or join Mary J Blige in the studio for a recording session. $10,000 also available as an alternative prize.
This was my first project to lead and mentor other developers, which I really enjoyed.
As a lead developer for this project (working together with Izaias Cavalenti), I was responsible for the overall site architecture as well as the "Send to Friend" and "Hear your story" sections.
The fridge poetry game on latter section was built using the FOAM rigid body physics engine. By selecting a thought starter, the user is tasked to complete a lyric from one of the selected artists' songs. Upon completion, a snippet of the song would play - highlighting the selected lyric.
All words, matching combinations, lyrics and audio are based on XML data, giving the project manager complete control to change and tweak.
Another part of this project I like is the curved lines in the background. They were derived from a set of control points throughout the stage and then interpolated between to find between the top and base lines.

As a part of the Reach Higher campaign, Lincoln wanted to create a new line of sites for their MKS, MKT, MKZ & C-concept models.
This microsite was designed to showcase the highlight features of the new MKS 2010, such as Ecoboost, SYNC, Active Park Assist.
To keep the core of the site as dynamic as possible, the layout of each section can either be based on a pre-defined template (like the majority of them follow) or be totally customized in terms of positioning and how things reveal and close.
All of the content is of course being loaded externally, to accompany for quick updates and last minute changes.
The site was then integrated with the Lincoln shell.

New World Home is an emerging modular design-build company, who came to Firstborn with the opportunity to develop their entire brand image.
During the discovery phase for this project, we developed a site which purpose was to introduce customers to their products and at the same time collect as much information about them as possible.
Using Google Analytics, we embedded over 300 unique tags to track all user interaction, such as most viewed homes or whether they were interested in purchasing a home.
The site also contains a fully dynamic XML defined questionnaire, customized differently depending on if the user is a customers or a potential business partner which enables users to instantly sign up for more information.
The statistics and information collected from the site were then used a foundation to identify their audience and determine what they were most interested in learning about which will be crucial for the second phase of this project, which will be a full enterprise website build for the company.
All flash done by me. Backend development by Alec Cove. Art direction and design by Verena Artinger. Project management & client relationship by Wes Adams.
